Probably. I can ban one of my test members and see what happens. I think they will be alerted. At the very least, it would cause them to be able to see the chatbox, but not log into it.

put a message at the top that says chatbox by invite only or 500 posts or something so that they don't feel bad they're excluded and ban new members as a matter of course is my thought.

I'm not exactly sure how I feel about that. The nice thing about situations like this, is we've got some time to sort this stuff out before non-BPE members start coming aboard.

Let's do this right now:

I'll put up a poll. I want to know how everyone feels about it. I'll put up a few different options and we'll see how that shakes out.

I can also assign mods to the chatbox. Anyone who wants to volunteer (I've already added you Kapi, you've been recruited ) to moderate the chat, please PM me. I'll add you and send you a list of commands.

We can check back on the poll in 2 weeks to see how things are going. In the end, we'll do whatever we've decided as a majority and it's something we can check back on when we feel it's necessary.

In the meantime, I'll leave the chatbox open to all members and then search the forum help for additional solutions.

sounds good to me. I like majority rules. I just know that hangers and I just had a fairly personal conversation, that would've been difficult to conduct in the regular forum format, but that we probably wouldn't have had if we though just anybody could read it kwim?
