What comes to your mind when you see "good moral character" as a requirement? C'mon don't hold back now. Hey, I'm Catholic and I was a bit surprised to see that - probably due to cultural differences but I'm curious about your opinion (well, who logs on here anyway)

Is this for a public or private school? The first thing I think of when I see moral character are the 10 Commandments.

That is a pretty curious thing to put on a grade school admission form.

I would imagine that it pertains to things like lying, cheating, bullying, being respectful and such. I think it's trying to say that, if the student is transferring, that the other school has to vouch for the fact that they aren't trouble makers.

idk

Yeah it's a private school in the Philippines where 90% of the population are Catholics...its actually where i went to school and was checking out the website due to a recent reunion...

I forgot that i used to get graded on conduct and cleanliness...i got flashbacks on how my mom would check my fingrnails and ears every morning before leaving for school (and getting yelled at if not trimmed/cleaned) oh yeah and dreading going home with a drity white shirt cuz i played in the playground afterschool

Now that Im Americanized, I actually think its a bit absurd - looking back that did nothing to benefit me in the future...

I don't think of morals as cleanliness. I think of it more along the lines of the Ten Commandments.

The boys have a moral clause to go to the school they go to. It is basically following the Ten Commandments.

I immediately thought what Ronin described.

I should've clarified...I used to get grades on "physical" cleanliness (not spiritual) like if I consistently show up in school in stained white shirts or wrinkled clothes, ungroomed hair, etc...(basically what's in the uniform code) this actually applied to both public and private schools so kind of the norm...

although now, I would only think of putting my kids in that type of school here if I they need more discipline etc...

That is crazy about the cleanliness. I knew what you were talking about. My boys would be in so much trouble. They can't go to school with ragged clothes, but geesh, last time I checked kids are going to get dirty.
