you bastard ! i was looking forward to Kiss and suspect i have been rickrolled the Herd doing hip hop "i was only 19"Redgum These young guys were very brave to choose to do this classic Aussie song for a cover competition . They did it with much respect to the original band , the RSL etc. The images of old diggers and any tears are authentic . I have watched a doco on the making of the clip and the guys went through some boot camp style training and very much consulted the RSL vets throughout the making of this video on very much a "mates rate" budget. Is also nice that some white Aussie biys doing hip hop sing in own accents and style. Many Aussie music artists are heavily influenced from US music (which is fine) , but then when they start singing it is with a US accent , slang and references that are not often part of there lives.

oh , and just realised that the vid. for the Herd song describes it as a cover of an "antiVietnam" song ..i have never heard it described as that before ..i believe it was done in the early 80's to gain recognition of post traumatic stress disorder etc. and to honor the vets. A family friend who was a vet loves the original and the song can often be heard on ANZAC day .

oh good grief, I don't know where to start....I heart cover songs.
Metallica covering Stone Cold Crazy by Queen Kiss covering Rock and Roll Radio by the Ramones Trent Reznor re-mixing Stone Cold Crazy Petra Haden doing an a capella version of I Can See For Miles by the Who Most of the Detroit Cobras catalogue Dramarama covering Femme Fatale by the Velvet Undergound Iggy Pop covering China Girl by David Bowie
It goes on forever. I have a CD called "Rebuild the Wall" by Luther Wright and the Wrongs (Canadians). It is a song for song remake of Pink Floyd's The Wall, in bluegrass and country fashion. Pink Floyd wrote some damn fine country songs.
